We finally know how each state compares to each other when it comes to IQ. Visual Capitalist ranked all 50 states based on key cognitive and wokraplce skills for adults.

  • Very Superior 130 and above
  • Superior 120-129
  • High Average 110-119
  • Average 90-109
  • Low Average 80-89
  • Borderline 70-79
  • Extremly Low 69 and below

Top Ranked IQ States

Before we talk about the Show-Me State, according to the ranking Massachusettes is the top dog when it comes to haveing the best IQ. Why? One word. Harvard. Having that high profile school helps push the state to the number one spot.

On average the state has a 104.3 average IQ. Followed by:

  • New Hampshire - 104.2
  • North Dakota 103.8
  • Vermont - 103.8
  • Minnesota - 103.4
  • Maine - 103.4

Where Does Missouri Rank?

Right in the middle of the pack. We an average IQ of 101.0, Missouri is in the middle of the ranking. Which is a good sign for those who attend any school in the state.
