When some people hear the word "redneck", they get offended, but I don't. As a matter of fact, if I were Missouri (and some say I am), I would wear this new ranking among the most redneck states in America as a badge of honor because that's what I believe it is.

I have talked to Nick Johnson of Homesnacks/Roadsnacks fame before, but don't hold that against him. He's a fun dude who likes to rank stuff in peculiar ways. This new most redneck states list he's created is no different. It appears to be partially figured based on the number of Walmart stores and just general redneck qualities. Yes, breaking news...Missouri has all of that and more.

Let me add my own 2 cents (now 4 cents allowing for inflation) to this redneck declaration for Missouri. I have lived in many fine parts of America including a few that had a high number of self-proclaimed social butterflies. I found myself missing Missouri something fierce. Give me goodhearted down-to-earth Missouri folks any day of the week compared to the country club crowd.

That's why I don't take these redneck labels as a putdown. Heck, no. Wear it like the badge of courage it is, Missouri. You really should be proud. I know I am.
